Sponsored by State Farm and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC), Project Ignition is calling for students, grades 9-12, and their teachers to create a service-learning project based on teen driver safety. With the support of teachers, advisors, or schools, students may propose innovative public awareness projects that involve television, film, radio, the Internet, direct mail, performance art, or a community event. Each year, schools whose campaigns are judged to be among the top 10 in the nation will receive $5,000 to help cover expenses to come to The National Service-Learning Conference. There, they will showcase their great work. One campaign will be named the Best of the Best and that team will win a $10,000 grant to continue its teen driver safety efforts.
